Premiere Event: New York tea brand, Tea By Tiffany hosts evening tea party in honor of Miko and Titi Branch of Miss Jessie's -- May 30th (NYC)

On May 30th 2012, Tea By Tiffany will host a tea party honoring Miko and Titi Branch of Miss Jessie’s. Tiffany’s Tea Party will be held at the Gran Piatto D’oro located at 1429 5th Avenue from 7-10pm. The evening will be presented with a traditional set menu of terrific “tea eats,” a tea course and tea cocktails. Sisters Miko and Titi are being honored for their innovative and forward movement within the hair care industry.

Miss Jessie’s is one of the newest leading brands in hair care. Currently sold nationally in Target stores across America and online, Miss Jessie’s breaks barriers for women entrepreneurs. The event not only gathers tea lovers and evokes great conversation but also recognizes individual women and groups of women in a variety of sectors and industries. “Not only are we passing on valuable lessons and experiences but we can do so in conjunction with tea- a renowned symbol of community, culture and conversation,” says owner Tiffanydenise.

Tiffany has also selected The New York Women’s Chamber of Commerce as the organization in which event attendees can make a donation to for their work in assisting women business owners in succeeding in their desired fields. In March Tiffany’s Tea Party honored Civil Rights Freedom Rider, Dr. Lenora Taitt-Magubane.

Today marked our third meetup in the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection. We chose Landmark Americana located in University City (34th & Market) as our spot of choice. As always brunch was filled with inspiring stories and thought provoking conversations on women billionaries, the real deal with incorporating your business, and how we could all help Oprah with her network (you had to be there..smile!)

Our Business Girl Topic of the Day was "Knowing and Loving Your Business: Being Prepared for the Next Level". The lack of preparedness of women entrepreneurs was the main focus. Here is a peek at our tipsheet for those unable to join us:

1. Always Be Prepared
Be prepared to improvise. Have a plan B and C lined up and always do your best. Don’t give up without trying.

2. Become the strategist your business needs
Sometimes we can’t always afford to outsource. Spend time researching and learning new technology and techniques that will help your business and your knowledge base grow.

3. Know when its time to ask for help
We can’t do everything ourselves. Know when its time to seek interns to handle the major little things. If you are in need of a professional, ask someone you know experienced in an area you need assistance in and barter your services in exchange for their help. Collaborations are a brilliant way to help someone else while helping yourself.

4. Know Your Numbers
If you’re seeking out investors, know the value of your business. If you offer products or services, never sell yourself short. Love your business enough to know it NEEDS money in order for it thrive. Place the oxygen mask over your face first.

5. Know when its time for a break
Always take some time out to relax, relate, release, and refresh. Whether it’s a weekend, a day, or 30 minutes. Take some time out to recharge your creative juices.

We kicked off our first meetup of 2012 on what had to be the coldest day of the season thus far. But that didn't stop the wonderful ladies that came out to meet and eat at Supper located at 926 South Street in Center City Philadelphia. This was our most diverse and experienced group that we've had thus far from Dianna Montague, the first woman to be certified as an Ironworker in the City of Philadelphia to Thomasene Gee, owner of Tommie's Passion Parties. That was just the tip of the iceberg.

Our Business Girl topic of the day "Definition of a Business Woman" brought many points of view as we discussed how we are definining our business and the challenges faced as being a women in male-dominated industries.

Here are just a few quick tips:

1. Think Strategically - Look at something from more than one point of view
2. Personal Branding - Don't be afraid to reinvent yourself. Have more than one stream of income.
3. Initiate - Act without being told.
4. Communicate - Say what you mean and mean what you say. The clearest most productive and effective way to communicate is honestly and openly.
5. Share your knowledge & learn from others

#100BusinessGirls NYC Brunch Meetup Recap {Dec 2011}

Today was our last meetup event for 2011. It seems like just yesterday we were trying to decide on a name and here were are with three events down. On this beautiful December day, the location of choice was The Cafe at Trump Soho. After making introductions, we talked shop about various topics (what happens at Let's Do Brunch stays), but our Business Girl topic of the day was on "Becoming Fearless in 2012 and Beyond" and we discussed ways in which we overcame our fears in business.

Here are 5 of the 10 tips from our Art of Being Fearless tip sheet:

1. Being fearless doesn't mean being reckless, but it does mean being bold and taking chances.
2. Fear will always be there. Do it anyway.
3. You don't have all the answers. It's okay to ask for help. Seek advice when needed.
4. Be fearless about communication. The word "no" is your friend and only wants what's best for you. Never be afraid to use it.
5. Always open yourself up to meeting new people, new experiences. and collaborations that fall in line with meeting your goals.
